Baker's Supermarket

Flexible, functional and economical
When store designers and planners set out to design the 60,000 square feet. Baker's Supermarket, they had several criteria. They wanted to create an intimate shopping experience, by maintaining low general light levels and using accent lights to highlight products and displays.

In addition, they required a system that was flexible, allowing for the frequently changing displays, and economical to install and maintain.

The solution to the design problem was the CrissCross PowerGrid Ceiling. This two-level, open-grid system requires only three basic elements - starter, joiner, and knuckle. Electronic ballasted, 70W metal halide fixtures were specified for accent lighting. Although the initial cost of a single metal halide fixture can be five times that of an incandescent, metal halide lamps offer longer lamp life, require less energy, and provide more light - translating to a lighting system that costs less to operate.

Flexibility In The Long Run
A 277-volt CrissCross PowerGrid allows more watts-per-feed over longer runs, providing ample power to the numerous HID fixtures used in this application.
