Steuben Glass

Glass Act
In a move from Fifth Avenue to Madison and 61st, the new Steuben Glass showroom reveals an updated image, museum-like media technology, and pays tribute to a century-old heritage of hand-crafted quality.

Lighting is a crucial ingredient. In the main sales area, concealed light sources make the glass appear as if glowing from within. Twenty-three feet overhead, hundreds of low-voltage Jewelers' Collection fixtures, tucked into curved and linear ceiling coves, focus narrow-beam AR-70 lamps onto the crystal pieces. A large group of fixtures, with 2700ēK cosmetic peach glass filters and glare-control hex-cell louvers, cast light through translucent draperies that wrap a symbolic, circular mezzanine.

One flight below, a 2500-square-foot gallery is devoted to exhibitions managed by the curator of the Corning Museum of Glass. This constantly changing space utilizes AR-70 Jewelers' Collection fixtures with side mount transformers powered by recessed BusRun busway.

Concealed in Coves
12-volt, AR-70 fixtures are concealed in linear and curved coves, 23 feet above the main sales floor.
